Background
An urban spa will become the newest business to join the Jubilee Square development in St Albans. Paul De Kort, leader of St Albans City & District Council, told a committee meeting on June 23 that wellness brand Being will open a new center at Francis Bacon House, located off Victoria Street.
According to the company’s website, Being will launch its wellness center on July 1, offering pools, a sauna and massage treatments.
De Kort said a banking sector tenant will occupy the third and fourth floors of Francis Bacon House starting next week. A financial services tenant will then take over the ground and first floors from autumn onward.
The £64 million Jubilee Square development was completed in summer 2024. It includes commercial units alongside 93 new homes built as part of the wider scheme.
Darlish Ice Cream and co-working firm Co-Space have already opened at the site. De Kort described both businesses as strong additions to the development, noting they have continued to grow since moving in.
He said the development would benefit further once more space fills up, with hundreds of additional workers expected to base themselves at Jubilee Square. He pointed to the wider economic gains this would bring to the city and surrounding district.
The continued interest from spa, banking and financial services tenants signals growing demand for commercial space in St Albans, as the development moves closer to full occupancy more than a year after its completion.
