Background
Google announced on Wednesday that it is releasing Lyria 3 Pro, a new music generation model that can create longer and more detailed AI-made tracks. The launch comes just one month after the company introduced Lyria 3.
According to Google, Lyria 3 Pro will allow users to generate music tracks up to three minutes long. This is a major upgrade compared to the earlier version, which could only create 30-second tracks. The company said the new model gives users better creative control and makes it easier for them to customize their music.
Google added that users can now guide the model more clearly by mentioning specific parts of a song in their prompts. These include intros, verses, choruses, and bridges. The company said the model understands song structure better than its previous version, helping it produce more complete compositions.
Lyria 3 Pro will be available through the Gemini app, but only paid subscribers will get access. Google is also rolling out the model to its Google Vids video editing platform and ProducerAI, an AI-based music production tool that Google acquired last month.
The company is also expanding Lyria 3 Pro into business-focused platforms. It will be available in Vertex AI in public preview and will also be offered through the Gemini API and AI Studio.
Google said it trained the model using partner data and approved content from YouTube and Google. It added that the model does not copy any specific artist. However, if users mention an artist in the prompt, the system may take broad inspiration from that style.
To ensure transparency, Google said all music created through Lyria 3 and Lyria 3 Pro will be marked using SynthID, showing that AI played a role in producing the track.
The release comes as music platforms increase efforts to detect and manage AI-generated songs.
