Background
LONGi, one of the world’s largest solar technology manufacturers, has officially entered the global energy storage sector with the launch of a new storage strategy unveiled in London. The China-based company partnered with safety specialist PotisEdge and launched its LONGi Energy Storage One-Stop Solution, greatly expanding its clean energy offerings.
The system will first roll out in key European markets, including the UK, Germany, Italy, and Spain. LONGi said the new solution will help utilities build smarter and more efficient clean energy networks as Europe accelerates its shift to renewable power.
The company’s push into storage builds on its strong position in solar and hydrogen technology. LONGi’s HIBC cell efficiency has reached 27.81%, while its ALK electrolyser capacity ranks first globally. The company said the new strategy completes its “Solar-Storage-Hydrogen” value chain, described as a “Stability Triangle” that integrates power generation, grid stability, and system balancing.
PotisEdge will play a central role in the collaboration. The company’s self-developed “5S” safety technology has delivered more than 12GWh of deployments with zero thermal runaway incidents. LONGi said this safety record will strengthen the reliability of its storage products.
LONGi also announced its first European Centre of Excellence, the Solar-Storage Technology Innovation Center. The facility will provide project consulting, technical training, and smart O&M support to ensure localised service for customers.
Company executives said Europe’s urgent need for clean energy and its mature market structure make it an ideal region for integrated solutions. PotisEdge and LONGi plan to expand their cooperation into global markets as well.
The launch comes as Europe approaches 100GW of energy storage capacity, driven by rapid growth in battery storage and pumped-hydro systems. Industry analysts expect storage capacity across the EU, UK, Norway, and Switzerland to grow by more than 115% by 2030.
