Background

Kingdom Housing Association (KHA) will move forward faster with its plans after getting £20 million from the Royal Bank of Scotland. The funding will be used to construct 170 new low-cost, energy-saving homes in Fife and Perth & Kinross.

The investment aims to ease Scotland’s housing shortage by providing warm, modern homes at low-cost rents. It also contributes to the bank’s plan to put £7.5 billion into affordable housing across the UK from 2024 to 2026.

All planned homes will be built to at least an EPC B rating, following a fabric-first construction approach designed to maximise energy efficiency and reduce long-term running costs for residents.

Lesley Janes, Finance Director at Kingdom Group, said the funding is a major boost for their work. She explained that support from partners makes their projects possible, and the £20 million will help them deliver more affordable homes in the areas that need them most, while continuing to serve local communities.

The new builds form part of KHA’s wider five-year programme, which aims to deliver 2,500 additional homes and increase the association’s overall stock by almost a third. Founded in 1979, the Fife-based organisation now manages more than 7,000 properties and provides housing, care and support services across the region.

This latest facility extends KHA’s long-standing relationship with the Royal Bank of Scotland, bringing total lending to the association to £61 million.

Bruce Davidson, Relationship Director at the bank, said the funding shows their joint effort to reduce housing pressures. He noted that the housing shortage remains a major issue in the country, and the Royal Bank of Scotland aims to support solutions through strong investment.
